Education System in Armenia and Recognition of Educational Documents Abroad
Armenia has a developed education system that meets international standards and allows graduates to continue their studies and work in various countries around the world. Diplomas and certificates issued in Armenia are recognized in a number of states, but for official confirmation, a nostrification or legalization procedure is required.

Education System in Armenia
1. Preschool Education
✔ Compulsory preschool education begins at age 3
✔ There are public and private kindergartens

Education Documents in Armenia
✔ Secondary School Certificate – confirms completion of school (12 years)
✔ Diploma of Secondary Specialized Education – issued after graduating from a college
✔ Bachelor’s Degree Diploma – issued upon completion of a 4-year higher education program
✔ Master’s Degree Diploma – confirms a 2-year program after a bachelor’s degree
✔ PhD Diploma – an academic degree equivalent to foreign doctoral studies
✔ Certificates of short-term training and advanced training courses
Recognition of Armenian Diplomas Abroad
Diplomas from Armenian universities are recognized in a number of countries; however, depending on the state, an additional confirmation procedure may be required.
1. Countries with Automatic Recognition
Some countries recognize Armenian diplomas without the need for nostrification. These are mainly CIS countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan) based on interstate agreements.
2. Countries Requiring an Apostille
In countries that have acceded to the Hague Convention, it is sufficient to affix an apostille to the document for recognition. These include:
✔ USA, Canada, United Kingdom
✔ France, Germany, Italy, Spain
✔ Turkey, Israel, UAE, and others
3. Countries Requiring Consular Legalization
Some states (China, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia) require consular legalization, which includes certification of documents by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the consulate of the destination country.
4. Countries Requiring Nostrification
In a number of countries (Germany, Austria, USA), a diploma must undergo evaluation and verification by specialized organizations. For example:
✔ In Germany – ZAB (Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen)
✔ In the USA – WES (World Education Services)
✔ In Canada – ICAS, IQAS
Recognition of Foreign Diplomas in Armenia
Foreign citizens wishing to work or study in Armenia must undergo the nostrification procedure at the National Center for Professional Education and Quality (ANQA).

✔ Issuance of a recognition certificate or a refusal with an explanation of reasons
