Education System in Armenia and Recognition of Educational Documents Abroad
Armenia has a developed education system that meets international standards and allows graduates to continue their studies and work in various countries around the world. Diplomas and certificates issued in Armenia are recognized in a number of states, but official confirmation requires a process of nostrification or legalization.

1. Preschool Education

Educational Documents in Armenia
✔ Secondary education certificate – confirms completion of school (12 years)
✔ Vocational education diploma – issued after college graduation
✔ Bachelor’s diploma – issued after 4 years of higher education
✔ Master’s diploma – confirms a 2-year program after bachelor’s degree
✔ PhD diploma – a scientific degree equivalent to foreign doctoral studies

Recognition of Armenian Diplomas Abroad
Diplomas from Armenian universities are recognized in a number of countries, but depending on the state, additional validation procedures may be required.
1. Countries with Automatic Recognition
Some countries recognize Armenian diplomas without the need for nostrification. These are primarily CIS countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan) based on interstate agreements.
2. Countries Requiring Apostille
In countries that have joined the Hague Convention, recognition requires an apostille on the document. These include:
✔ USA, Canada, UK
✔ France, Germany, Italy, Spain
✔ Turkey, Israel, UAE, and others
3. Countries Requiring Consular Legalization
Some states (China, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia) require consular legalization, which involves document certification by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the consulate of the destination country.
4. Countries Requiring Nostrification
In some countries (Germany, Austria, USA), diplomas must undergo evaluation and validation by specialized organizations. For example:
✔ In Germany – ZAB (Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen)
✔ In the USA – WES (World Education Services)
✔ In Canada – ICAS, IQAS
Recognition of Foreign Diplomas in Armenia
Foreign nationals wishing to work or study in Armenia must undergo the nostrification process at the National Center for Professional Education and Quality (ANQA).
