A marriage certificate is a document or certificate that indicates the place of marriage registration, the date of marriage registration, the surnames and names of the spouses, and their dates of birth.

What is a marriage certificate needed for?

What is the validity period of a marriage certificate?
A marriage certificate is issued upon marriage. As a rule, it is valid until divorce or the death of one of the spouses. Requirements for the document may vary in different countries. The form of the birth certificate (marriage certificate) may vary.
As a result of the approval of new forms of marriage certificates, it may eventually be necessary to obtain a document of the new sample, or more precisely, a duplicate of the marriage certificate. But this almost never happens.
Sometimes, when submitting a marriage certificate (or its duplicate) from Armenia or another country, officials of the receiving country may ask to update the certificate. That is, to provide a marriage certificate issued very recently. For example, Spanish authorities often require that the marriage certificate be no more than three months old.
After the death of one of the spouses, a marriage certificate or duplicate will not be issued to you. You can only obtain a copy of the civil record or an extract from the civil record of the marriage.

Can I obtain a marriage certificate from Armenia online?
You can obtain an online (electronic version) Marriage Certificate in Armenia through our agency. You will receive a fully legitimate marriage certificate — without a seal, but with a QR code for online verification. In Armenia, wet seals and signatures are no longer used today. Foreign authorities are aware of this.
