What is the validity period of a birth certificate?
A birth certificate is issued at a person’s birth. As a rule, it has no expiration date until the owner’s death. But it must be remembered that document requirements differ in different countries. This means the form of the birth statement (certificate) can be different. And as a result of the government approving new forms of birth certificates, it may become necessary over time to obtain a new document, or more precisely, a duplicate birth certificate of the new form. But this does not happen often.
Sometimes, when presenting a birth certificate (or its duplicate) from Armenia or another country, officials of the receiving country may require it to be current. That is, a birth certificate that was issued recently. For example, Italian authorities often require that the document be issued no earlier than six months ago.
After death, the birth certificate of that person (duplicate) is no longer issued. Only a copy of the birth record or an extract from the birth record can be obtained.
